Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
Years of Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in: public affairs within federal government or defense organization, copywriting and editorial development, graphic design, video production and post-production, project or task management.

Description/Scope:
AMSG seeks a Management Analyst to provide advisory and workflow management support to the Public Affairs Office (PAO) at the Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy (VAAA). The Analyst will ensure the strategic alignment and efficient execution of PAO activities across the full lifecycle of initiatives, projects, and operational tasks. This position supports VAAA’s mission to enhance acquisition excellence and workforce readiness across the Department of Veterans Affairs through effective communication, coordination, and data-informed management.
Responsibilities:
- Planning and Prioritization
- Develop and maintain portfolio roadmaps and integrated project plans.
- Facilitate prioritization of PAO initiatives to align with strategic objectives and leadership guidance.
- Decompose complex initiatives into actionable workstreams and task-level activities.
- Project and Task Management
- Organize and assign work across the PAO portfolio, ensuring clarity of ownership and accountability.
- Track task execution, coordinate urgent requests, and ensure on-time delivery.
- Support process improvement to increase efficiency and consistency across communication workflows.
- Monitoring and Visualization
- Maintain information radiators (e.g., dashboards, Kanban boards, trackers) to visualize workload and progress.
- Produce visual summaries and performance reports for leadership showing workload distribution, throughput, and outcomes.
- Communications Development Support
- Contribute to the development of communication assets, including websites, press releases, articles, brochures, and videos.
- Draft copy and assist with layout, design, video production, and post-production activities in collaboration with the PAO.
- Reach-Back and Continuity Support
- Serve as a liaison between the PAO and the broader contract team to align support services with PAO requirements.
- Coordinate inputs from tech writers, analysts, and developers to enable integrated solutions.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Graduation from the Defense Information School (DINFOS) Public Affairs & Communication Strategy Qualification Course (PACS-Q).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in each of the following:
- Public affairs within a federal government or defense organization
- Copywriting and editorial development
- Graphic design and visual communication
- Video production and post-production
- Project or task management
- Preferred: Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or equivalent project management credential.
- Other Requirements:
- Must be able to work onsite at VAAA in Frederick, MD.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
