POSITION OVERVIEW
The Wire Harness Technician / R&D / Document Control role is responsible for producing Manufacturing Work Instructions, including BOMs, Cut-Lists, Parts Lists, Specified Instructions, and full creation of Work Travelers. Additional tasks include creating customer First Articles and In-House Samples, managing revision and document changes, and performing reverse engineering. The role requires the ability to conduct internet research for parts and tooling. Knowledge of CAD and wire harness drawing programs is a major plus.
This position requires the ability to work independently and report to the VP, Sales, and Upper Management.
A background in Electronic Assemblies is preferred. Work experience in the field is recommended, though college internship experience is also acceptable.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & TASKS
Experience working on any of the following is valuable. Candidates with 3–5 of the skills listed below are highly appreciated:
Proficiency in electrical drawings and schematics, engineering orders, assembly routes, work orders, travelers, BOMs, and quality directives.
Ability to create cable and harness assemblies from schematics and develop neat, efficient cable routing for various projects.
Ability to manage the creation of pegboards for production assembly of wire harnesses.
Ability to update or create wire assemblies in CAD, along with writing detailed assembly instructions.
Effective use of hand, electric, and pneumatic tools typically used in electrical assembly.
Ability to calibrate crimping machines and wire cutting/stripping machines.
Strong safety awareness regarding electrical components and warehouse procedures.
Must be a self-starter with strong critical thinking, communication skills, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to multitask.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of electronics assembly experience required (5 years preferred).
Education Requirements:
Technical certification or equivalent related field experience of over two years.
Additional Requirements:
Fluency in technical English is required; Spanish is a plus.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
