Located in our beautiful Woodridge facility, and reporting to the Vice President of Client Services. The project Engineer works closely with an experienced project manager. This role provides hands-on exposure to estimating, procurement, cost tracking, scheduling, and field coordination on projects valued up to $100M . The primary objective of this position is to develop the technical, financial, and leadership skills necessary to progress into a Project Manager role.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and/or review technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates
- Manage Construction documentation (RFIs, Purchase Order logs, shop drawings, change orders, field testing).
- Assist Project Manager on various projects.
- Ability to complete organized and detailed electrical takeoffs comprised of both labor and material.
- Solicit sub-contractor and supplier pricing on bid packages.
- Prepare and/or deliver the bid package – including ability to write a scope letter
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documents to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, and services for our type of work.
- Oversee and provide guidance on projects to internal staff
- Review electrical drawings and specifications for lighting, power distribution, mechanical power, HVAC controls, special systems, and fire alarm systems
- Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to workers and clients
- Work with superintendents and foremen to plan, organize, and direct activities related to projects
- Assist with jobsite construction management and verify that construction is proceeding in accordance with design specs
- Assist with quality control, permitting and licensing, outage planning, scope change control, progress reporting, and closeout reporting
- Manage preparation of bid specifications, procurement of material and services, and contractor and vendor performance
- Update job cost reports including work progress, costs, and scheduling updates
- Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and develop lasting relationships
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management; or Field experience preferred
- 0 years experience; Experience working in electrical construction a plus.
- Familiarity with Accubid preferred.
- Familiarity with REVIT preferred.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines while maintaining a focus on quality.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to meet critical deadlines
- Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive.
Salary : $68,000 - $90,000
