Job Summary
The Grassroots Advocacy Manager supports the development, engagement, and activation of a national network of grassroots advocates to advance the work of the So Every BODY Can Move campaign and broader advocacy priorities of the Amputee Coalition. The Manager builds coalition structures, maintains advocacy resources and playbooks, and provides coaching, training, and programming to maximize volunteer engagement and policy impact nationwide. This position also manages key advocacy programs, including Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month (LLLDAM) and the Lead Advocate Certification Training (LACT). This role collaborates closely with the Amputee Coalition’s Policy & Advocacy, SEBCM, Development and Communications teams to ensure grassroots mobilization, digital engagement, and volunteer activities advance organizational priorities and goals.
Essential Functions
Grassroots Mobilization & Coalition Development
- Implement a scalable coalition management structure to recruit, onboard, train, and support SEBCM state-level coalitions with strong volunteer leadership
- Maintain and update SEBCM’s advocacy resource library (fact sheets, toolkits, playbooks, digital/print materials) to support coalition and volunteer development
- Develop educational programming (trainings, webinars) and provide coaching and mentorship to SEBCM state leads, core teams, and grassroots volunteers
- Support outreach strategies to build, diversify, and engage a national network of grassroots volunteers for SEBCM
- Build relationships with advocates, community organizations, and partners to strengthen SEBCM grassroots networks
Advocacy Operations & Digital Engagement
- Manage SEBCM advocate intake systems, track volunteer engagement, and respond to inquiries
- Support SEBCM legislative tracking and develop mobilization content (action alerts, talking points, messaging)
- Contribute to social media and newsletter content related to SEBCM, grassroots advocacy, and partnerships
- Coordinate text, email, and digital communications to disseminate timely updates, resources, and action opportunities to advocates
- Develop and administer surveys to volunteers and state teams to collect feedback, assess needs, and inform ongoing program improvements
- Support SEBCM national advocate calls and events as needed
- Represent SEBCM and the Amputee Coalition through presentations, trainings, and participation in meetings and conferences
Program Management
- Manage all advocacy activities for Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month (LLLDAM) - including state proclamation campaigns, volunteer outreach, guidance on proclamation requests, and tracking progress toward annual goals
- Manage the Lead Advocate Certification Training (LACT): update curriculum, deliver trainings, issue credentials, and promote participation
Organizational Alignment
- Ensure all grassroots and advocacy activities reflect the Amputee Coalition’s mission, vision, and core values
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Experience with project management, problem-solving, and logistical coordination

- Accountability for program performance, reporting, and tracking outcomes
Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Three to five (3–5) years of experience in public policy, advocacy campaigns, grassroots organizing, or related fields; health-related policy experience preferred
- In lieu of a degree, five (5) years of directly related experience will meet the educational requirement

- Familiarity with tools for volunteer engagement, digital advocacy, and database management
- Experience working with individuals with limb loss, limb difference, or disability communities
- Experience supporting advocacy campaigns, nonprofit policy initiatives, or healthcare-related programs
- Experience with online communication tools, CRM systems, or digital advocacy platforms
Physical Job Requirements
- This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) more than half the time
- The person in this position may need to move about the office or work area less than half the time
- This position requires the ability to spend more than half the time viewing computer monitors
Travel Requirements
- This position requires overnight domestic travel 25-50% of the time

Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
