POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Data Technician is responsible for accurately recording and tracking all phases of construction activity on active job sites. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that every stage of conduit installation, wiring, trench excavation, pole placement, concrete and flow fill work, wire terminations, and equipment installation is properly documented. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, field-savvy, and skilled in using digital tools for construction progress tracking.
The Field Data Technician reports directly to the Contracts & Proposal Manager and maintains proactive, frequent, and open communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily Site Documentation
- Track and record daily field production, including:
- Trench excavation lengths and depths.
- Conduit and wire installation quantities and locations.
- Concrete and flow fill pours (volumes, locations, and times).
- Pole setting and equipment installation progress.
- Wire terminations and testing activities.
- Take clear, labeled photos and maintain digital field records for each construction activity.
- Ensure all measurements and material usage are logged accurately in coordination with foremen.
- Reporting & Communication
- Prepare daily field reports summarizing progress, materials used, and crew activities.
- Submit documentation to the Project Manager for schedule and cost tracking updates.
- Support the project team by flagging discrepancies, delays, or quality issues observed on-site.
- Technology & Data Management
- Use tablets or field software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, or Excel) for inputting data, uploading photos, and syncing reports.
- Maintain digital records and redline drawings for as-built documentation.
- Verify that all recorded data aligns with project specifications and engineering drawings.
- Coordination
- Work collaboratively with field crews, foremen, subcontractors, and office staff to confirm daily production quantities.
- Assist in updating work plans and material forecasts.
- Maintain open communication with site leadership to ensure all work is properly tracked and verified.
· Other duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years in construction field tracking, inspection, or similar roles.
- Knowledge: Understanding of underground utilities, electrical conduit systems, trenching, and wire installation.
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and construction management software.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and communication.
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to work outdoors year-round in varying conditions.
