Summary

The Senior Auditor role is primarily responsible for leading and executing a comprehensive range of Accreditation audits within the QP Accreditation auditing team. In this capacity, the Senior Auditor serves as the principal technical auditor for the QP accreditation program, ensuring adherence to the highest standards. Additionally, the Senior Auditor coordinates and delivers craft worker training in tandem with accreditation audits, supports the program Director in mentoring new auditors, and contributes to business development efforts for the QP Business Development team. Key responsibilities include maintaining qualifications to conduct all types of QP audits, staying current with educational requirements to instruct and oversee craft worker training and certification hands-on assessments, and delivering detailed presentations to Facility Owners, Architects, specifying engineers, and potential accredited contractors and inspection companies on the advantages and significance of obtaining accreditation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Conduct field, shop, shipyard and office audits of organizations (e.g. coating contractors, blast and paint shops, coating inspection firms) to verify compliance with AMPP-SSPC qualification procedures (e.g. QP 1. QP 2, QP-3, QP 5, QP 8, QS 1, QN 1 and others) and associated administrative programs IAW the Auditor SOP. (Minimum of 65 audits per year and submit audit reports in a timely manner in the required format)
  • Audit in-house AMPP QP contractor or shop training programs as assigned. Verify contractor in-house instructor(s) compliance with AMPP QP administrative procedures and adherence to technical content (e.g., ASTM D3276 and ASTM D6237).
  • Proctor AMPP Craftworker Certification Exams (e.g. C-7, C-12, C-13, CAS, ACAS, CCA) in conjunction with Accreditation audits, as approved by the Education and Certification Departments.
  • Instruct AMPP Education Courses that the Senior Auditor is qualified by Education to instruct, in accordance with Education policies, primarily on site for QP accredited entities in conjunction with QP audit trips.
  • Verify audited companies are compliant with current industry standards as cited in contracts, specifications, regulations, product data sheets, etc.
  • Represent AMPP Accreditation at industry meetings/conferences regarding technical and regulatory issues, as assigned. Present to facility owners, consulting engineers, coating and prime contractors, labor and trade organizations, etc., the merits and requirements of AMPP’s accreditation programs
  • Assist the Program Director by mentoring new audit hires during their initial on-the-job training period. This includes conducting On the Job training in the field and reviewing and critiquing audit reports prepared by new hires.
  • Provide emergent technical and administrative support to the staff in the absence of the Program Director
  • Support AMPP Accreditation Management to improve and implement the development, implementation and administration of all QP accreditation programs. This includes related IT systems, review of existing and alternative audit reporting systems and updates to audit plan checklists when accreditation standards are introduced or revised
  • Ability and experience to work remotely with an extremely high degree of autonomy and responsibility to complete audits on time using a predetermined format without daily direct supervision.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Organization and coordination of audits. Individuals must be able to develop and work within a weekly schedule, making cost effective and efficient travel arrangements. Individuals should have the ability to handle multiple assignments, write detailed and accurate audit reports that are submitted in a timely manner.
  • The individual will have the ability to interface with members, owners, contractors, inspectors and their representatives at job sites and offices respectively.
  • This individual must be able to travel internationally when assigned.

Travel Requirements

This role requires up to 75% travel, a valid driver’s license and passport are required.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum: AMPP CIP Level III or AMPP Protective Coating Specialist certification in good standing. AMPP C3/C5 certifications are required and must be attained within the first 60 days of employment. OSHA 30-hour training is required and must be attained within the first 60 days of employment. Specialty certifications and training such as AMPP SSPC Concrete Coating Inspector (CCI Level 2), Metalizing Inspector Endorsement, QCS training are also required. OCAT and SCAT training is desirable. OSHA 30, 500 or alternative training required.
  • Meet the experience requirements of the AMPP/SSPC Competent Person/Supervisor for Industrial Structures
  • Minimum of ten (10) years full time experience in the industrial coatings industry, preferably conducting technical quality or safety audits, coating and lining inspections services or related work.
  • Complete a two-day (16 hour minimum) course on the Principles of Auditing or Director approved alternative technical auditor training.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office and industry-related software is desirable.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, employees of the organization, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, etc. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to develop and interpret business graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS And ABILITIES

Must possess a specific level of communication skill both verbal and written. Have demonstrated personnel management skills including, but not limited to, the ability to evaluate staff performance and provide direction, is highly desirable. Ability to work in a multi-task environment taking into account various external factors and to communicate efficiently and accurately to both managers/supervisors and subordinate staff. Must be computer literate with knowledge and experience in word processing and spreadsheet softwares. Ability to learn and use association specific software.
