Secondary Instructional Coach Job Description
Job Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Principal, the Instructional Coach works with teachers and administrators in the designated school and classrooms to improve student achievement. This position is responsible for providing coaching, co-teaching, and job-embedded professional development related to Amplus Academy and data drive improvement plans. This position supports teachers in improving instructional practices that facilitate learning by modeling effective instructional practices and coaching teachers on how to enhance student learning in all curriculum areas. The Instructional Coach will provide guidance to teachers to support their efforts in actively using formative and summative assessments, and assist with the use of digital tools to support 21st century teaching and learning.
The Instructional Coach is expected to adhere to Amplus Academy's professional standards as well as Nevada Department of Education licensure standards. Amplus Academy is a classical education charter school located in the southwest area of Las Vegas; Amplus Academy has two campuses serving Kindergarten-12th grade students.
Terms of Employment:
11 month (203 contracted work days) paid over 12 months
Salary:
The compensation for this position is in alignment with the Amplus Governing Board approved Salary Schedule; Salary Schedule based on years experience and degree held. Compensation for all positions are determined by the Governing Board and Administration of Amplus Academy. Consideration is given for experience and specialized skills in determining salary.
Salary Range:
$55,000.00- $85,000.00 with 100% Employer Paid PERS
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Conducts coaching reviews and professional development that are timely and constructive
Duties/Responsibilities:

In collaboration with administration determine specific goals, measurable outcomes, action plans, schedule and timeline to improve instruction and implement student intervention plans

Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis

Supports the establishment, implementation and revision of district curriculum and assessment in the core content areas
-
Collaborate with administrators in designing, developing and implementing professional learning that is associated with district and building initiatives.

Models principles of adult learning and promotes digital age best practices in curriculum, instruction and assessment

Co-plans, co-teaches/models best practice and provides real-time coaching and feedback to help teachers implement Nevada standards with high fidelity and to meet student learning expectations

Evaluates results of professional learning to determine the effect on teacher growth in the area of content knowledge, pedagogical skills and/or their impact on student learning

Serves as a data coach and assists principals and teams in reviewing student work, analyzing data and adjust instruction in frequent and short term data team cycles;

Provides guidance and/or intervention based on cause and effect data to cultivate high performing teams

Collaborates with individual teachers and/or grade level teams to resolve issues related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, student learning

Collaborates with staff to develop instructional plans for providing additional intervention services

Provide intervention to targeted students to ensure successful and high level learning among all students

Expands building-level leadership capacity by coaching teacher leaders, department/grade level chairs and program coordinators

Trains, monitors and coaches paraprofessionals that supports student intervention programs

Works collaboratively with other instructional coaches, teacher leaders, administrators, and charter authority staff to improve teaching and learning

Participates in continuous growth opportunities to deepen knowledge in curricular, instructional and leadership practice

Engages in active communication and positive relationships with staff, parents and community members

Communicates with families and other supporting agencies regarding student progress in a supportive and positive manner

Maintains appropriate records and protects the confidentiality of data

Participates in other job-related duties and activities related to the position, as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:

Demonstrate ability to support, mentor, and model best practice instructional strategies to teachers with varying levels of teaching experience

Have knowledge and competence in core content areas that meet Nevada standards as well as expertise in recognizing, demonstrating, and analyzing effective instructional practices, methodologies, and/or strategies

Knowledge of instructional practices that effectively engage secondary students is essential, as is an understanding of the impact of diversity on learning.

Knowledge of NEPF (Nevada Educator Performance Framework) that supports teachers professional and instructional practices

Ability to appropriately utilize formative, diagnostic, and summative assessments, participate effectively in professional collaboration within the schools professional learning community, and successfully demonstrate the use of digital tools to enhance teaching and learning.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree and Nevada Teaching License required; Masters degree preferred

Five (5) years experience as a licensed teacher required

A demonstrated track record of successful mentoring/coaching, leadership and facilitation of adult learning

Up-to-date with current best practice and have successfully applied them in teaching and learning

Demonstrate high capacity to evoke students motivation to positively impact student learning and achievement
