Lead AV Installation Technician

Amplify People
Redmond, WA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/28/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/25/2026

Company Overview

We are partnering with a dynamic and fast-scaling residential systems integrator headquartered in Redmond, WA. Known for their software-forward approach to AV and home automation, this firm distinguishes itself through deep technical expertise, hands-on leadership, and a relentless pursuit of quality in the field. With a second location in Texas now coming online, they are building a technical team capable of executing complex luxury residential projects at a consistently high standard.

Leadership here is technical, direct, and involved. The bar for craftsmanship is high — and so is the investment in people who clear it.

Why Join Us?

  • A Real Career Path — Technicians here learn the business and grow into project management. Advancement isn't theoretical; it's how this team is built.
  • Complex, High-End Work — Large-scale luxury residential projects with sophisticated control, lighting, and shading systems — not repetitive, cookie-cutter installs.
  • Autonomy and Trust — This role is for someone who can own the first 90% of a job independently. You'll be trusted to run your work, not micromanaged through it.
  • Learn New Platforms on the Job — Strong exposure to Control4 and Lutron is the foundation, and there's genuine opportunity to expand your skill set across additional systems and into programming.
  • A Team Without Egos — Leadership is looking for people who pitch in wherever the job needs them and who lift the rest of the crew. That standard applies to everyone here.
  • See the Country While You Work — With projects spanning Washington and a growing Texas presence, travel opportunities are built into the role for those who want them.

Job Overview

We're hiring an experienced AV Installation Technician to execute residential automation, AV, lighting, and shading installations across Washington and, at times, out of state.

This is not an entry-level position. The right person can walk onto a job site with a punch list and complete it independently, pulling and terminating wire, cutting in speakers, building and dressing racks, mounting displays, and driving the installation to the point of programming without needing their work checked. Programming experience is a plus but is not required for this role.

Beyond the technical skill set, the single most important trait for this position is work ethic. This is a company where technicians get on ladders, into attics, and through crawl spaces — whatever the job requires. The ideal candidate takes visible pride in their work, documents as they go, solves problems independently before escalating, and finishes what they start rather than watching the clock.

This role reports to the operations leadership team and works closely with the full field crew.

Responsibilities

  • Independently execute residential AV, automation, lighting, and shading installations from rough-in through trim-out.
  • Pull, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling to a high standard of neatness and reliability.
  • Build, dress, and install equipment racks; cut in and install speakers, displays, keypads, and control hardware.
  • Work through daily punch lists independently and verify completion before leaving a site.
  • Document work in progress consistently — job site photos, notes, and status updates using the company's documentation platform (CompanyCam).
  • Troubleshoot installation and system issues in the field, escalating only when genuinely necessary.
  • Interface professionally with homeowners, builders, and trade partners on site, including basic system handoffs and client questions.
  • Support and mentor less experienced technicians on the crew as needed.
  • Maintain tools, vehicle stock, and job site organization.
  • Travel to out-of-area job sites, up to approximately 50% of the time.

Qualifications

Required

  • Proven experience as a residential AV/integration technician capable of working independently without oversight.
  • Hands-on experience with control and lighting platforms — Control4 and Lutron strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work through a punch list, self-check the work, and complete a job before leaving the site.
  • Strong documentation habits — comfortable pausing to photograph and note work as it progresses.
  • Independent problem-solving skills and sound critical thinking in the field.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% and flexibility with scheduling.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Own hand tools.

Preferred

  • Lutron RadioRA 2 or RadioRA 3 certification.
  • Exposure to additional platforms such as Savant, Josh.ai, Crestron, or similar.
  • Experience with both Lutron lighting and shading specification and installation.
  • Prior client-facing experience conducting system handoffs or homeowner walkthroughs.
  • Interest in growing toward programming or project management responsibilities.

Physical Demands: This role requires regular ladder work, access to attics and crawl spaces, lifting and maneuvering equipment, and extended periods of standing, kneeling, and working in tight or unfinished spaces.

Schedule: Full time, with flexibility required to accommodate travel and to complete work through the end of a job rather than the end of a shift.

Benefits

  • Health insurance
  • PTO and Company Holidays
  • Paid Industry Certifications
  • Opportunity for advancement into project management
  • Exposure to leading control, lighting, and shading platforms
