PMO Department Overview

The Engineering PMO Department provides Project Management and Contract compliance with structure and oversight that support Ampirical’s engineering teams in delivering high-quality power delivery projects. The department manages proposals, scope, schedule, budget, and risk while ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and industry standards. Serving as a central hub for coordination, communication, and project controls, the PMO drives consistency, accountability, and smooth execution across all engineering projects.

Your Role: Engineering Project Manager ( I or II )

Ampirical's Engineering PMO is seeking Project Manager ( I or II ) to lead engineering project delivery across the full project lifecycle — managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and client relationships on electrical utility projects ranging from single-discipline designs to multi-discipline programs. This is a hands-on leadership role within a growing PMO where project managers own their projects end to end and are supported by a dedicated Project Controls team.

What You’ll Do

• Manage contracts and project scopes ranging from $1M–$5M , ensuring all technical deliverables meet client and regulatory standards.
  
  

Project Manager I : is responsible for managing contract scopes for smaller projects, task orders, and designs valued at $250,000 or less, with a focus on single-discipline or non-complex designs.

Project Manager II : expands that responsibility to complex, multi-discipline projects, task orders, and designs valued between $250,000 and $1,000,000 , encompassing multiple engineering disciplines and multiple concurrent projects

• Own the full project lifecycle — from proposal and kickoff through design, field coordination, and closeout — ensuring deliverables are on time, on budget, and contract-compliant
• Develop engineering budgets, milestone schedules, and resource plans using bottom-up methods and manage performance against those plans throughout execution
• Lead stakeholder communication across engineering teams, clients, subconsultants, and internal leadership — including meetings, status reports, and change order management
• Manage contract scope, risk registers, and monthly reporting across the five pillars of contract management: scope, risk, schedule, budget, and resources
• Coordinate field activities including site observations, commissioning events, surveys, and feasibility studies while ensuring alignment with safety and quality standards
• Write and support proposals ranging from task order letters to competitive bid packages, including scope narratives, assumptions, and pricing
• Ensure all engineering designs meet applicable codes, regulatory requirements, and the industry standard of care across every deliverable
  
  

What You Bring

Engineering Project Manager I

• 🎓 Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
• 📊 Minimum 5 years of project management experience in utilities engineering or very similar technical fields
• PE license and/or PMP certification

• 🎓 Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
• 📊 Minimum 8 years of project management experience in utilities engineering or very similar technical fields
