Job Overview
As a member of the technical staff, the Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design of new electronic products up to full production. This includes specification reviews, development program timelines and reports, design reviews, simple mechanical designs, documentation packages, pre-production builds and transfers to production. This engineer will also be responsible for technical support of some mature electronic products currently in production.
Responsibilities
- Develop designs for electrical subsystems for automotive applications
- Confer with other Engineers to prepare and document design modifications as required
- Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks
- Prepare schematics, PCB layouts, product and component related specifications, bills of materials as needed following the design documentation process
- Develop Product, Hardware Validation and Test Specifications for each program
- Review production documentation to confirm accuracy of Bill of Materials (BOM) and assembly data (CIM)
- Responsible for determining component suitability to product functional requirement
- Confirm availability and facilitate acquisition of new components for builds
- Plan, develop, and participate in experimentation and tests related to product development
- Generate and analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
- Interface with Manufacturing to incorporate Design For Manufacturability and Test strategies into PCB designs
- Work with the project team toward implementation of design and process improvements
- Lead and participate in Change Management control of documentation packages for the factory
- Provide support during creation of the Electrical Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
- Provide technical support at customer locations
- Responsible for determining root cause of product nonconformance utilizing appropriate test equipment
Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 4 years of EE experience
- Minimum of 4 years of Embedded Design experience
- Ability to read and interpret Electrical Schematics
- Understanding of Electronic Circuit Design
- Ability to conduct failure analysis on electronic modules
- Fluent in the use of Laboratory Equipment for Failure Analysis
- Capable of finding root cause of the failure
- Able to write reports of findings from Failure Analysis
- System integration knowledge
Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
