Amphenol PCD is seeking a Design Quality Engineer to join our Quality team based in Beverly, MA. The Design Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that aerospace-grade electrical connectors meet rigorous quality and regulatory standards throughout the design and development lifecycle. This role plays a critical part in driving design assurance, supporting qualification efforts, and ensuring product reliability for high-performance, mission-critical aerospace applications.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Test Engineering) to ensure quality is integrated into the connector product design process
  • Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and support Process FMEA (PFMEA) for new and existing connector products
  • Define product qualification plans and support environmental and mechanical testing in accordance with industry and customer standards
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for design-related nonconformities
  • Support first article inspections (FAI) and compliance documentation per AS9102 and customer-specific requirements
  • Participate in design reviews, ensuring conformance to internal and external standards
  • Develop and maintain quality plans, inspection instructions, and control plans tailored to aerospace connector applications
  • Interface with customers and suppliers on technical quality matters, including resolution of issues and participation in audits
  • Monitor design validation metrics such as reliability, test coverage, and defect trends, recommending continuous improvements
  • Perform additional quality-related duties as required by the Quality Manager

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering
  • 3 years of experience in quality or design engineering roles focused on aerospace connectors or similar electromechanical components
  • Solid knowledge of aerospace quality systems and standards, including AS9100 and AS9102
  • Proficiency with quality tools (FMEA, 8D, 5 Whys, SPC, MSA) and familiarity with industry-specific tools like APQP and PPAP
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings (GD&T), material specifications, and electrical schematics
  • Experience with environmental and mechanical testing (e.g., thermal cycling, vibration, mating cycles)
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with connectors used in harsh environments
  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) or equivalent quality certification
