Principal Power Electronics Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Principal Power Electronics Engineer to join our client's engineering team in Boston, MA. In this role, you will design and develop high-voltage AC-DC and DC-DC module products up to 60kV and 500W, working across the full product lifecycle from concept through field performance. You will be a key technical contributor who takes ownership of product success and drives continuous improvement.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and analyse AC-DC and DC-DC high-voltage module products and subsystems/circuits, primarily up to 60kV and 500W, meeting specifications, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals
  • Diagnose issues of diverse scope relating to design, field performance, reliability, and test yields; recommend and implement effective corrective actions
  • Assume full responsibility for product success in customers' applications, proactively identifying and addressing issues as needed
  • Follow key engineering procedures, including the Product Development Process and the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and programme management teams to deliver products on time and to specification


QUALIFICATIONS

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of operational amplifiers and analog circuit design
  • Familiarity with power supply design and development
  • Experience with firmware development is a plus
  • Experience identifying and selecting safety-critical components in support of ECO activities

  • Demonstrated good judgement in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions
  • Proven professional skills as an experienced electrical engineer with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies/procedures
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, taking initiative on new assignments
  • Strong independent problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; collaborative and effective as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with others in complex or ambiguous situations


EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrical engineer
  • Demonstrated experience in high-voltage power electronics design (AC-DC and/or DC-DC)
  • Experience with safety-critical component selection and engineering change order activities


EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline required
  • A master's degree or equivalent advanced qualification is advantageous

Salary : $180,000 - $220,000
