Primary Maintenance Technician Duties/Responsibilities Include:
- Troubleshoot, install, maintain and repair defective parts, machinery and mechanical equipment such as paper bag machines and equipment, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, physical structures, plumbing, hydraulic and automated systems
- Perform preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, aligning components and observing operations, vibrations and noise level
- Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, mill, welder, grinder and other metal working tools to make and repair parts.
- Work safely by observing safety rules, policies, and procedures. Identify unsafe conditions or actions
- Respond to work orders submitted by employees
- Work independently as well as part of a team
- Assist supervisor in ordering parts
- Plans and obtains cost estimates and executes projects under guidance of the maintenance supervisor
- Provide training in areas of expertise or knowledge
- Support facility improvements
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, cleaning up areas after tasks are complete
- Participate and execute actions from the quality improvement program
- Maintain compliance with company quality systems and support audits
- Perform emergency/break down repair as needed
- Other duties as may be assigned
The Skills You Will Bring:
- Experience/knowledge in mechanical troubleshooting, welding, metal fabrication, plumbing, pneumatics, confined space and mobile equipment
- Ability to problem-solve and prioritize work
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to accurately use and read a variety of measuring devices
- Ability to bend, squat and kneel, and climb frequently
- Ability to lift average weighted materials, 50 lbs. up to 70 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to stand for 8 hours
- Ability to work varied hours/days
- Ability to adapt to change
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read manuals and diagrams
- Mechanical Journeyman or Technical/Vocation Certificate preferred but not required
The hiring process for successful candidates will include a team interview and may include a pre-employment aptitude test.
