Position Summary

The HR Generalist I supports AMP United’s Human Resources department in the day-to-day administration of HR functions.

This position plays a critical role in recruiting, onboarding, training coordination, and compliance oversight for employees engaged in preservation, structural, and tank/void work.

The HR Generalist I ensures all HR-related activities are executed in accordance with AMP United policies, state and federal employment laws, and Department of Defense (DoD) requirements — including NISPOM, SECNAV, and CMMC 2.0 compliance standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

· Coordinate with hiring managers to post open positions, screen applicants, and schedule interviews.

· Facilitate new-hire onboarding, including employment eligibility verification, shipyard access requirements, and completion of new-hire documentation.

· Maintain personnel and onboarding files in compliance with company and DoD retention standards.

Employee Relations & HR Support

· Serve as the first point of contact for employee HR inquiries.

· Assist with documentation of employee relations issues, attendance, and corrective actions.

· Support supervisors and site leadership in interpreting HR policies and procedures.

· Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in all employee-related matters.

Training & Development

· Coordinate and track required trade certifications, safety, and compliance programs.

· Maintain training and qualification records within the HRIS and training database.

· Schedule and track performance evaluations; assist in administering Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).

HR Compliance & Administration

· Ensure compliance with EEOC, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and DoD/NISPOM employment requirements.

· Maintain HRIS and payroll data accuracy and support internal HR audits.

· Assist during external reviews or agency audits as required.

· Support Facility Security Officer (FSO) and Corporate Security in personnel clearance tracking, Visit Authorization Letters (VALs), and reporting.

Benefits & Leave Administration

· Conduct new-hire benefits orientations and assist during annual open enrollment.

· Respond to employee benefit inquiries and liaise with benefits providers.

· Track and document leaves of absence (FMLA, ADA, personal), ensuring compliance with company policy and applicable law.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

· Knowledge of HR laws and best practices (EEO, FMLA, ADA, FLSA).

· Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS platforms, and timekeeping systems.

· Familiarity with DoD, NISPOM, and CMMC 2.0 compliance processes preferred.

· Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Security and Access Requirements

· Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass all background, drug, and security checks.

· Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

· Minimum 1–3 years of human resources experience in a government contracting, shipyard, or industrial environment.

· Experience supporting multi-state or multi-site operations preferred.

Physical Requirements

· Prolonged periods of sitting and computer-based work.

· Occasional walking and standing within shipyard and industrial environments.

· Ability to lift 20 lbs. occasionally (e.g., files, supplies, training materials).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $77,000.00 per year
