Remote SDS/OBS Coder
StartDate: 5/19/2026 Pay Rate: $28.00 - $35.00
POSITION: Remote Facility SDS/OBS Coder
DEPARTMENT: Health Information Management
START: 5/19/26 or ASAP
END: 12/31/26
LOCATION: Remote
PAY: Weekly pay at a very competitive Hourly Rate
PRODUCTION EXPECTATIONS: 4.5 SDS & OBS Accounts per Hour!
JOB DESCRIPTION: The remote Outpatient Coder is responsible for assigning diagnosis and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems and monitors bill hold reports. Must be able to code IVR diagnosis codes on those accounts, NO procedures on IVR accounts. The type of SDS they see would be Orthopedic, Urology, Gynecology, General Surgery - appendectomy, cholecystectomies, etc, Plastic Surgery - Breast reconstructions after mastectomies, Heart catherizations/pacemakers, EGD, Colonoscopies, ENT, Ophthalmology, some Podiatry, Gamma Knife/Nuero lead placements/shunts, and Vascular. Communicate with the Workforce Manager when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Extensive knowledge of 3M encoder, EPIC electronic health record is required. MUST HAVE A MINIMUM 5YRS Recent Acute Care Outpatient coding experience with specific Ambulatory Surgery - all types, and Observation coding experience. Comfortable with hitting a 95% accuracy or better and hitting productivity standards. Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology.

Minimum Required Qualifications
- Must have a High School Diploma; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five (5) years recent acute care hospital Outpatient Coding (Ambulatory Surgery and Observation) and abstracting experience.
- Recent Level 1 Trauma experience.
- Extensive knowledge with recent 3M 360 and EPIC software.
- CCS Credentials required.
- Strong communication (written/verbal) with experience in writing queries
- Must be technically savvy.
- 5yrs Academic Acute Care Outpatient Coding experience specifically Ambulatory Surgeries and Observation accounts.
- M – F 8hrs per day, 40hrs a week, during standard business hours
