WALNUT CREEK L&D • ***MUST HAVE CURRENT CA LIC AT TIME OF SUBMISSION *** • L&D RN • Pt population : 321 beds in hospital, not teaching hosp, level II trauma Total # of Unit Beds/Suites/Deliveries: LDR = 10, OR’s & PACU’s = 2 Antepartum – 10 rooms 240 deliveries per month Level 3 exp needed. Fetal scalp electrodes and IUPCs high risk AP and high risk deliveries Patient Population (Diagnoses): 20% High Risk – Diabetics, Pre-Eclampsia, Advanced Maternal Age, low incidence of HIV & hard drug abuse. MUST BE competent & comfortable looking after high risk, MgSO4 infusions. IDDM, placenta Previa, maternal cardiac hx, twins, lupus. C-Sections, tubal ligations, D&C, post amnio. Level III NICU/ NICU nurses will attend high risk births Cesarean Section = 28% tEpidural = 90-95% Average length of patient stay: Vag delivery – 2 days C section – 3 or 4 days • RN’s circulate in OR but do not scrub • MUST BE AUTONOMOUS & ABLE TO DO VAG EXAMS • GOOD FETAL HEART MONITORING SKILLS • OK WITH HIGH RISK Advanced Practice on the unit: 3 - Nurse Midwives 24 hour in house Anesthesia & Pediatrician. Neonatologists present 7 days a week, on-call 24 hours/day. OB’s in house – 14hrs / day • Ratios : 1:1-4 based on acuity of patient. ratios are CA state mandated, will depend on patient acuity and census • Float requirements : will float as needed under same scope of skill may float to AP and MB units • Schedule/ Weekend requirements : typically every other weekend • Scrubs: any color no jeans, detailed info will be provided with first day info • EPIC is EMR preferred • 2 yrs exp is preferred; must have at least 16 months exp • Required upon Submission: Must have CA RN License, ACLS, NRP, Fetal assessment • At least 16mths strong L&D exp Preferred: • 2 yrs exp is preferred; Prior travel exp; EPIC exp [138684]
