This unit provides antepartum/antenatal and postpartum/postnatal care for maternity patients and normal newborns. Gynecology patients are excluded. Note that this department does not include labor and delivery. Essential Functions
Provide direct nursing care during labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum periods
Monitor maternal and fetal status and respond to emergent situations
Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary team members
Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and postpartum care
Accurately document patient care and clinical outcomesent.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent education/experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR from approved vendor (BLS, HS-BLS, or RQI per AH policy)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Labor & Delivery environment
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced education or specialty certification
Experience with fetal monitoring and high-risk obstetrics
