Provide strategic and transformational leadership as the Director of Acute Care Operations at Stormont Vail Health – Flint Hills Campus in Junction City, Kansas!

The Position
- The Director of Acute Care Operations will provide leadership and oversee 24/7 operations across acute care and the OB/GYN clinic, including the Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical units, Labor and Delivery, hospitalist services, and pharmacy at Stormont Vail Health’s Flint Hills campus and nearby Manhattan facility.
- Reporting to the Hospital Administrator, with a dotted line to the Chief Nursing Officer, this leader will oversee a team of ten direct reports and approximately 100 FTEs.
- This leader will play a key role in continuing the organization’s successful turnaround following its 2023 acquisition, helping sustain financial performance while guiding the next phase of operational and clinical growth.
- A primary focus will be refining nursing practices and competencies following rapid growth. Responsibilities include conducting a comprehensive assessment, implementing improvements, mentoring staff, and supporting preparation for ongoing Magnet designation efforts.
- Ideal candidates will be personable and approachable leaders, capable of building relationships across all levels of staff and driving meaningful culture change. A professional yet small-town demeanor will be key. This individual must demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, along with excellent organizational and communication skills. A background in Medical/Surgical or Emergency Department settings is required.
- This position will primarily be based at the Flint Hills campus, with occasional travel (5–10%) to support regional operations.
Requirements
- BSN and Master’s degree required.
- Active RN license required.
- Minimum of three years of clinical healthcare experience required, including at least three years in a leadership role.

The Organization
- Stormont Vail Health (SVH), a 586-bed, community-based, non-profit integrated delivery system, is the region’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care and only verified trauma center.
