Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport is seeking a Clinical/Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) to join the Chemistry Laboratory team. This role is responsible for performing laboratory testing, quality control, instrument maintenance, and specimen processing that supports patient diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and interpret routine and specialized laboratory testing
- Analyze and document quality control and instrument maintenance activities
- Troubleshoot equipment and escalate issues as appropriate
- Ensure compliance with laboratory accreditation standards and regulatory requirements
- Assist with inventory management and performance improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate documentation and laboratory records
- Support patient-centered care while adhering to confidentiality and safety standards
Qualifications
MLS Candidates
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related biological, physical, or chemical science
- ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire)
MLT Candidates
- Relevant laboratory training and eligibility for required certification/licensure
- ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire)
Preferred Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment
- Experience with laboratory instruments, quality control, and troubleshooting
Compensation & Incentives
Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
- $29.90 - $47.85/hour
- $20,000 Sign-On Bonus with a 2-year commitment
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
- $23.90 - $35.95/hour
- $10,000 Sign-On Bonus with a 2-year commitment
