Position Summary
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA and state regulations, and driving a proactive, people-first safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and emergency procedures.
- Conduct regular jobsite inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments.
- Provide ongoing training and toolbox talks (PPE, equipment safety, hazard awareness, etc.).
- Lead all incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action plans.
- Track, maintain, and analyze safety records, metrics, and compliance documentation.
- Partner with project managers, foremen, and field crews to uphold safety standards daily.
- Stay current on OSHA standards and industry best practices.
- Promote and reinforce a “Zero Incident” mindset across the company.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years' experience as a Safety Coordinator in construction required.
- Trenching, Confined space, and Shoring Experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills with the ability to influence and gain buy-in from crews.
- OSHA 30 required; additional certifications OSHA 510 (CSP, CHST, ASP, etc.) highly preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification a plus.
- Ability to work both in the office and outdoors on active construction sites.
