Shipping & Receiving Coordinator – Baton Rouge, LA

AMMON Staffing is hiring a Shipping & Receiving Coordinator in Baton Rouge, LA for a full-time position focused primarily on Shipping. This role is responsible for preparing, packaging, documenting, staging, and loading customer shipments, along with shipping transactions and inventory accuracy. The position requires regular forklift and pallet jack operation, handling large and oversized shipments, and working both indoors and outdoors. Candidates should be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working with shipping documentation and computer systems, and able to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities.
What You’ll Do
Shipping
Review daily shipping priorities, production completions, carrier schedules, and special requirements.
Pull, verify, package, palletize, secure, label, stage, and load customer orders.
Verify part numbers, descriptions, quantities, and shipment information.
Prepare small-parcel, freight, large, and oversized shipments.
Obtain and document shipment weights and dimensions.
Coordinate carrier pickups and communicate delays or shipment issues.
Shipping Documentation & Systems
Process shipments through carrier systems such as FedEx and UPS.
Prepare freight shipping documentation.
Verify Bills of Lading, shipping labels, and other documentation.
Complete shipment transactions in E1 after orders leave the facility.
Scan and maintain shipping records in SharePoint.
Complete required shipping documentation and system transactions the same business day whenever applicable.
Inventory & Material Handling
Maintain accurate inventory through material withdrawals, shipment transactions, and material movements.
Perform cycle counts and report discrepancies.
Maintain organized inventory and staging areas.
Monitor packaging supplies and communicate replenishment needs.
Receiving Backup
All Shipping & Receiving Coordinators are cross-trained in Receiving and Material Handling and may provide backup coverage as needed. Duties may include:
Receiving and inspecting incoming materials.
Matching materials to purchase orders and processing receipts in E1.
Putting materials away in designated inventory locations.
Pulling materials for production work orders.
Processing partial receipts and reporting shortages or discrepancies.
Supporting inventory accuracy and cycle counts.
Equipment & Safety
Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other authorized equipment.
Handle large and oversized loads using proper procedures.
Use approved hand and power tools as needed.
Follow all safety, PPE, training, and operating procedures.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
What We’re Looking For
Shipping, receiving, warehouse, or material-handling experience.
Forklift experience required.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to read and process orders, part numbers, quantities, Bills of Lading, and shipping documentation.
Ability to measure shipment weights and dimensions.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Comfortable using computer systems and shipping software.
E1 and/or SharePoint experience is a plus.
Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Ability to maintain productivity and stay actively engaged throughout the workday.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
