Job Summary
The 2nd Shift Cleanup Crew Member is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and organization throughout the recycling facility. This role ensures all work areas, equipment, and grounds are cleaned and prepared for the next shift’s operations while adhering to safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties throughout the facility, including sorting areas, processing lines, and workstations
- Sweep, shovel, and remove debris such as paper, plastic, metal, and other recyclable materials
- Clean and maintain machinery, conveyors, and equipment as directed
- Empty trash bins and properly dispose of non-recyclable waste
- Use cleaning tools and equipment such as brooms, blowers, pressure washers, and vacuums
- Maintain outdoor areas, including loading docks, parking lots, and surrounding grounds
- Identify and report safety hazards, equipment issues, or spills
- Follow all company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements
- Assist with basic facility maintenance tasks as needed
- Support production team with cleanup during and after operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous industrial or janitorial experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Comfortable working in a noisy, dusty, and fast-paced industrial environment
- Ability to work in varying temperatures (hot/cold conditions)
Work Environment
- Recycling facility with exposure to moving machinery, dust, and odors
- Requires use of company provided and personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection
