Assisted Living RN – Job Description
Position Summary:
The Assisted Living Registered Nurse (RN) provides clinical oversight, coordinates resident care, and ensures compliance with state regulations and facility policies. The RN supports residents in maintaining the highest level of independence while delivering compassionate, person-centered nursing care.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care
- Conduct initial and ongoing resident assessments.
- Develop, update, and implement individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
- Monitor residents’ health status and respond to changes in condition.
- Provide wound care, injections, and other skilled nursing procedures as permitted by state regulations.
Care Coordination
- Communicate with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding resident status.
- Coordinate outside services such as physical therapy, home health, hospice, or other healthcare providers.
- Participate in care conferences and ensure continuity of care.
Oversight & Supervision
- Supervise and support caregivers, CNAs, and medication aides.
- Provide training, coaching, and competency evaluations for direct care staff.
- Ensure proper documentation, medication administration compliance, and adherence to facility policies.
Regulatory & Safety Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations.
- Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and safety programs.
- Monitor infection control practices within the facility.
Resident & Family Support
- Build positive relationships with residents and families.
- Address concerns or questions regarding care plans and services.
- Promote resident dignity, independence, and quality of life.
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license in the state of employment.
- Experience in assisted living, long-term care, geriatrics, or home health preferred.
- Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and support care staff.
- Knowledge of assisted living regulations and best practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25–50 lbs as needed.
- Standing, walking, bending, and transferring residents as required.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
