This is a full-time, on-site role for an AOD Counselor based in San Quentin, CA. The AOD Counselor will be responsible for providing substance use disorder counseling, facilitating evidence-based group and individual sessions, and assisting individuals in creating and implementing personalized recovery plans. The role involves tracking client progress, documenting case records, conducting assessments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the effective delivery of services. Additionally, the counselor will provide support and guidance for clients navigating recovery.
- Proficiency in conducting substance use disorder counseling and supporting individuals in recovery
- Ability to facilitate evidence-based group and individual therapy sessions
- Experience with assessment techniques, case documentation, and creating personalized recovery plans
- Effective communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of addiction and recovery processes, as well as empathy and understanding for marginalized populations
- Relevant certifications or licenses, such as Certification as Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counselor or related credential
- Familiarity with legal, ethical, and compliance guidelines related to counseling and treatment
- Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (preferred)
