Responsibilities
- Plan and execute engaging swim practices tailored to various skill levels, from beginners to advanced athletes
- Provide clear instruction on swimming techniques, safety protocols, and competitive strategies
- Monitor swimmers’ progress, offer constructive feedback, and adjust training plans accordingly
- Enforce safety rules and maintain vigilant supervision during all activities in the pool area
- Foster a positive team environment that encourages sportsmanship, discipline, and camaraderie
Swim Meets, Invitationals, and Championships
- Managing swim meets, invitationals, and Championships ensuring smooth operations and fair play
- Having prepared lineups for all meets ( Coach and parent helper copies)
- Communicating with families about upcoming meets and attendance
- Submit meet results to BCSA and other stakeholders
- Maintain records of best times and qualifiers
Professionalism
- Coach will attend through their entirety all meets and Championships
- Attend a minimum of 1/2 all attended invitationals in their entirety
- Attend swim team board meetings as requested
- Mandatory attendance at BCSA coaches meeting
- Wear appropriate attire representing Amity AC during meets
- Use only swim team approved communication methods when contacting parents and swimmers
- Notify the board 48 hours prior to absence from any regularly scheduled meet or practice
- 3 excused absences, and if more is required, it is at the discretion of the board to approve or doc pay
- If 1/2 of the attended invitationals can not be met, it is at the discretion of the board to approve or doc pay
Qualifications
- Swim Coaching Experience
- 18 years old and a High School Diploma or GED
- College degree preferred, but not required
- Member of the Berks County Swimming Association ( BCSA)
- CPR/AED certified
- PA Child Abuse check
- PA State Criminal History check
- FBI Background check ( Only needed if you haven't lived in PA for 10 years)
