Purpose & Objective
AMIRI is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Import & Export Coordinator to join our Logistics team in Los Angeles.
This role reports to the Global Director, Transportation & Compliance, and is responsible for the day-to-day preparation and execution of inbound and outbound trade documentation and the coordination of shipments with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers, ensuring accurate, compliant, and on-time deliveries. This is an in-office position at AMIRI's Los Angeles headquarters. The ideal candidate is motivated and highly organized, with sharp attention to detail and a desire to grow within global logistics and trade compliance.
\n- Prepare, review, and file inbound and outbound trade documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists and slips, bills of lading and air waybills, arrival notices, and certificates of origin.
- Verify that documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant before shipment release, and prepare supporting shipping documents as needed to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with freight forwarders, parcel carriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx), and suppliers.
- Track shipment status and proactively flag and resolve delivery exceptions, delays, and urgent orders.
- Provide real-time support for parcel and freight shipments, coordinating with carriers and partners to keep product moving.
Customs & Compliance
- Partner with customs brokers to ensure timely, accurate customs entries, supplying documentation, confirming HTS classifications, and supporting ISF (10 2) filings.
- Support compliance with U.S. import and export regulations and internal SOPs, escalating issues as they arise.
Recordkeeping & Reconciliation
- Maintain organized, audit-ready shipment records and files within company systems
- Reconcile freight, duty, and brokerage charges against invoices and purchase orders; investigate and help resolve discrepancies.
Cross-Functional Communication & Support
- Act as a day-to-day point of contact for shipment status, liaising between production, purchasing, warehouse, wholesale, retail, and Head Office teams.
- Provide timely, clear communication on delays, constraints, and resolution paths, escalating when needed with context and proposed actions.
- Provide general administrative support to the logistics and transportation group as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or International Trade preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 2 years of experience in logistics, import/export, freight forwarding, shipping/receiving, or a related administrative role; relevant internships count. Entry-level candidates will be trained.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills; able to manage documents, deadlines, and competing priorities accurately in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication; dependable, adaptable, and a confident collaborator with internal teams and external partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, with the ability to learn logistics and ERP/TMS software quickly.
- Familiarity with Incoterms, HTS classification, ISF, or CBP/ACE is a plus (or progress toward the NCBFAA Certified Customs Specialist credential).
- Experience with apparel or fashion imports, or with a high-volume importer, is a plus.
- Able to work on-site in Los Angeles, Monday through Friday.
