POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President, Accounting serves as a key financial leader within the management company, providing strategic oversight and hands-on execution across financial planning & analysis (FP&A), tax compliance and planning, and accounting operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the Managing Partners, this individual plays a critical role in driving financial visibility, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance across the organization.

This position requires a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and can translate complex financial data into actionable insights for senior leadership.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

•    Lead the annual budgeting and multi-year financial planning processes for the management company, coordinating inputs across all departments.

•    Develop, maintain, and continuously improve financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making.

•    Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance reports to the CFO and senior leadership team.

•    Work with Managing Partners to align financial plans with operational objectives, headcount planning, and capital allocation priorities.

•    Provide ad hoc financial analysis and business case support for strategic initiatives, investments, and operational changes.

•    Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.


Tax Compliance & Planning

•    Oversee all federal, state, and local tax compliance obligations for the management company, ensuring timely and accurate filings.

•    Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors on complex tax matters, audits, and filings.

•    Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s effective tax rate and minimize tax risk.

•    Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulations, assessing their impact on the company and communicating implications to leadership.

•    Manage transfer pricing, intercompany arrangements, and related-party transaction documentation as applicable.

•    Ensure proper tax provision calculations and disclosures in financial statements.


Accounting Operations

•    Direct all day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and fixed assets.

•    Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

•    Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.

•    Lead the coordination of annual financial audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.

•    Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, continuously identifying opportunities to streamline and reduce cycle times.

•    Manage the accounting team, providing mentorship, performance guidance, and professional development support.


Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

•    Serve as a strategic financial partner to the CFO and COO, translating financial data into clear, actionable recommendations.

•    Build and maintain strong working relationships across departments to support data integrity and cross-functional financial initiatives.

•    Evaluate, implement, and optimize financial systems and technology solutions to enhance reporting capabilities and operational efficiency.

•    Maintain a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance and accounting function.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Certification

•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s degree (MBA or MAcc) preferred.

•    CPA designation strongly preferred.


Experience

•    Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership or management role.

•    Proven experience in FP&A, tax compliance/planning, and accounting operations, ideally within a management company, financial services, or real estate environment.

•    Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.

•    Experience managing external auditor relationships and coordinating audit processes.


Skills & Competencies

•    Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.

•    High proficiency in accounting and ERP systems (e.g., Business Central, NetSuite, SAP, or similar); advanced Excel skills required.

•    Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

•    Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

•    Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.

•    Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset with strong business acumen.
