the job:

This is a foundational intelligence and operational leadership role for a fast-growing prestige brand entering its next phase of scale.

The Director, Marketing Intelligence & Operations serves as the neutral intelligence hub for the marketing organization. You will build the data systems, consumer insights infrastructure, AI tooling, and operational excellence that enable all marketing functions—Brand, Product Marketing, Consumer Engagement, and field teams—to make faster, evidence-driven decisions while maintaining agility and creative excellence. You'll lead a small, high-impact team (Consumer Intelligence / Data Analytics Manager reports to you) and provide oversight of Creative Operations and GTM Operations workflows to ensure cross-functional alignment and execution discipline.

location: Brooklyn, NY (must be based in have the right to work in the US)

what you'll do:

Marketing Intelligence & Insights

  • Own and govern centralized marketing intelligence: consumer segmentation (Mintel cohorts, Tracksuit demographics, psychographics); brand equity and awareness tracking; competitive intelligence; campaign performance hindsight and learnings; attribution and funnel analysis; KPI dashboards; and market trend analysis.
  • Establish single source of truth for all marketing data—reconciling insights across multiple tools and teams so leaders operate from aligned data, not competing narratives.
  • Create and maintain marketing intelligence dashboards, reporting cadences, and playbooks that surface consumer insights, competitive moves, campaign learnings, and performance trends.
  • Conduct ongoing campaign hindsight analysis—post-mortems, learnings documentation, attribution modeling, ROI analysis—to build institutional knowledge and improve future campaign performance.

AI, Data & Tooling Strategy

  • Evaluate and recommend AI and analytics tools that enhance consumer segmentation, audience targeting, creative optimization, attribution modeling, and operational efficiency.
  • Own assessment of how much demand marketing is driving: build attribution frameworks and models that quantify marketing's contribution to revenue and key business outcomes. Track and communicate marketing's ROI across channels, campaigns, and initiatives.
  • Manage marketing budget tracking and KPI governance: establish clear frameworks for budget allocation, spend tracking, ROI measurement, and KPI definition across all marketing functions. Ensure financial accountability and visibility into marketing performance vs. objectives.
  • Own the technology stack roadmap: marketing automation, analytics, planning, and reporting platforms. Reduce tool fragmentation and ensure systems work together seamlessly.
  • Develop and implement governance framework for AI adoption—managing vendor relationships, integrations, data access, training, and ongoing optimization.
  • Partner with IT, Operations, and Enterprise Data teams to ensure proper data governance, security, infrastructure support, and integrated reporting across marketing and business systems.

Go-to-Market Planning & Launch Orchestration

  • Own annual marketing planning process with Creative, International, Product Marketing, and Brand leaders: integrated go-to-market calendar across product launches, retailer moments, seasonal campaigns, Pro initiatives, international priorities, and creative production roadmap.
  • Design and operate recurring marketing operating rhythms with all functions: weekly prioritization reviews, monthly business reviews by function, launch readiness gates, quarterly strategic planning, and board-level reporting cadence.
  • Lead integrated go-to-market orchestration across Creative, Product Marketing, Digital CRM, Integrated Media, NA Marketing, International, and Pro Marketing—partnering with each function to ensure alignment on messaging, channel strategy, timing, dependencies, and resource alignment.
  • Build prioritization frameworks with key leaders that create visibility, sequencing, and tradeoff discipline across the organization. Establish clear decision-rights and escalation paths for conflicting priorities.
  • Create portfolio visibility: workload assessments, resourcing gaps, timeline risks, and dependency mapping across all marketing initiatives.
  • Lead launch governance reviews: readiness criteria, approval gates, contingency planning, and post-launch performance analysis.

Operational Excellence & Modernization

  • Modernize marketing workflows, project management processes, and operating tools in partnership with key functions to improve visibility, reduce friction, and enable faster execution.
  • Establish centralized marketing playbooks, launch templates, messaging frameworks, operating documentation, and institutional knowledge repositories shared across all functions.
  • Build training and enablement materials for marketing operations processes, tool adoption, and workflow best practices.
  • Establish upstream leadership alignment mechanisms with key marketing and business leaders to surface risks, clarify strategy, and resolve conflicts early before cascading to broader organization.

Team Building & Leadership

  • Build and lead the Marketing Intelligence & Operations team and growing as scale demands.
  • Provide oversight of Creative Operations and GTM Operations workflows to ensure operational excellence, cross-functional alignment, and execution discipline across all marketing initiatives.
  • Develop team expertise in marketing operations discipline, consumer insights, data analysis, and cross-functional leadership.

must haves:

  • 10 years of experience in marketing operations, GTM operations, analytics leadership, business operations, program management, or operating-model roles.
  • Proven track record building marketing intelligence functions or centralized analytics organizations.
  • Deep experience with go-to-market planning, product launch orchestration, and portfolio prioritization in complex, multi-function organizations.
  • Hands-on comfort with data analysis, dashboarding, attribution modeling, and business intelligence tools—or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Familiarity with modern marketing technology stacks, workflow automation, and operational platforms.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing AI tools for marketing applications (forecasting, segmentation, optimization).

Industry & Context

  • Experience working within fast-growing consumer, beauty, prestige, fashion, lifestyle, or DTC brands (strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with multi-channel retail (Sephora, Ulta, independent salons, Amazon, DTC) and omnichannel go-to-market strategy.
  • Understanding of creator economy, influencer partnerships, and earned media channels.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills—especially the ability to distill complexity into clear, actionable insights.
  • Comfortable operating as a neutral hub: building trust across competing functions by remaining objective and focused on organizational success, not personal alignment.
  • Ability to build structure and discipline from ambiguity—creating planning processes, governance frameworks, and operating rhythms that feel natural, not burdensome.
  • Facilitation and conflict-resolution skills: steering conversations and meetings back to aligned objectives, clear deliverables, and concrete next steps.
  • Growth mindset: comfort with ambiguity, continuous learning, and evolving processes as the organization scales.
