The Opportunity:
The Amigos School seeks a JK-8 Biliteracy Coach to join our caring and innovative community. The Biliteracy Coach’s role is to promote effective biliteracy instruction that supports all students in academic achievement. The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of Spanish and English literacy instruction, as well as experience planning, implementing, and adapting curriculum that supports rigorous learning in two languages. He/she will have experience working with teachers to support pedagogical and content knowledge for teaching and learning.
The Biliteracy Instructional Coach is a key member of the school leadership team, ensuring that our community is properly equipped to deliver world-class instruction in Spanish and English. Moreover, she/he will be fully committed to continuously learning, improving, reflecting, and working together to ensure that all students achieve at high levels.
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming instructional aide, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
- High levels of native language proficiency in Spanish and English, including listening, speaking, reading, grammar, and writing.
- Required Massachusetts License: Grades 6-8. Reading Specialist preferred.
- At least 5 years of successful teaching in 6th-8th grades.
- Familiarity with the Massachusetts Frameworks for English Language Arts and Literacy.
- Literacy Collaborative Literacy Coordinator training or Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Workshop training.
- Skills in data analysis, supporting, and targeting appropriate interventions.
- Proficiency in confronting issues of race and equity.
- Experience in analyzing and using a wide variety of data sources.
