Job Title: Fiber Construction Inspector
Location: Statewide Alabama (Primarily covering Florence, Cullman, Decatur, Athens, Muscle Shoals, and Gadsden; occasional travel to Auburn, Troy, and Dothan)
Schedule: Monday Friday, typically 7:00 AM 5:00 PM CST (with 1-hour meal break)
Duration: 12 Months (Contract)
Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Travel: Required up to 100% within the state of Alabama
Expenses: Mileage reimbursement (site-to-site or overnight travel) and phone allowance
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fiber Construction Inspector to oversee and ensure quality control of telecommunications construction projects across the state of Alabama.
This role will involve site inspections, vendor oversight, inventory management, and documentation of fiber construction activities in alignment with company standards and safety requirements.
The ideal candidate has a solid background in telecom construction, fiber installation, and field inspection, along with strong communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Perform on-site inspections of fiber construction work to ensure compliance with company standards and local regulations.
Manage warehouse operations, including inventory control, vendor outfitting, and cable/material tracking.
Document fiber inventory, construction progress, and incidents using Microsoft CRM and related systems.
Provide field support during major outages or critical network events, ensuring accurate documentation and oversight.
Conduct strand mapping, make-ready rides, and post-construction inspections with local utilities and partners.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to update construction handbooks, process documentation, and safety standards.
Track and report on project status, contractor performance, and quality assurance findings.
Required Qualifications
3 years of telecom construction inspection experience (fiber or utility preferred).
Hands-on experience with construction and field inspection processes.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Visio).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in fast-paced field conditions.
Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working directly with fiber construction vendors or contractors.
Working knowledge of fiber network design, installation standards, and utility coordination.
Experience Using Microsoft CRM Or Other Project Documentation Platforms.
Background in telecom, construction management, or utility field operations.
Additional Details
Position is field-based and requires regular travel throughout Alabama.
Mileage reimbursement and phone stipend provided.
Occasional overtime may be required based on project demands.
