What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Adjustment Counselor/504 Coordinator position at Amherst Pelham Regional School District?
The Amherst-Pelham Regional School District is seeking a highly skilled adjustment counselor/504 Coordinator for the high school to provide in-school counseling services for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs. The School Adjustment Counselor will also work with students on Section 504 plans and chair meetings. The caseload will be focused on providing counseling services for students with IEPs who receive counseling services and may include Tier 2 counseling. The Counselor will partner with other school personnel to meet the needs of the students in the school. This is a full time position.
The School Adjustment Counselor will have the following roles and responsibilities:
Provide group and individual counseling services
Case management services for assigned caseload
Participate in IEP meetings; develop and progress monitor IEP goals
Chair 504 meetings
Write 504 plans or adjust and edit current plans based on evaluation results
Assist in scheduling 504 meetings as needed
Collaborate and consult with school personnel on topics related to social/emotional learning and mental health issues
Provide crisis intervention when needed
Conduct self harm and threat assessments as needed
Do behavioral assessments and develop behavior support plans
Family communication and collaboration as part of service delivery planning and services
Collaborate and consult with teachers and related service personnel regarding strategies and interventions appropriate for students and communication regarding progress monitoring
Maintain contact with outside providers and agencies to facilitate a comprehensive approach to the student’s service delivery
Experience working with Culturally Diverse Populations
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend districtwide mental health team meetings and trainings
Perform other related duties as required
Assume any additional responsibilities as directed by the Principal
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree or above in Social Work, Psychology, or other mental health provider field
Background working with children and adolescents with mental health needs
MA DESE School Adjustment Counselor certification required.
