What are the responsibilities and job description for the Anticipated Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) position at Amherst-Pelham Regional Public Schools?
Anticipated: The Amherst Public Schools is hiring for a full time Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to work with students in grade k through 5. The SLPA will work, under the supervision of a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist, to assist students with speech and language disorders.
Experience/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Implement therapeutic procedures for which qualified, as designated by the supervising Speech and Language Pathologist.
- Contribute to progress reports and help collect data for Individualized Education Plans.
- Consult with the supervising therapist concerning implementation and status of therapy goals.
- Collaborate with other service providers including general education and special education staff.
- Help develop an awareness of individual student needs and assist the Speech and Language Pathologist in monitoring these needs.
- Instruct individuals or small groups of students with speech and language needs, following a prescribed program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the speech department.
- Prepare materials and assist with other clerical duties, including word processing, typing, filing, duplicating, and recording.
- Possess experience in an agency and/or public school setting working with Special Education students preferred
Possess at minimum, an associate’s degree in speech-language pathology from a training program approved by a national certifying body, or a bachelor’s degree with a major in speech-language pathology, or a bachelor’s degree and a certificate from a board approved speech-language assistant program.
Salary : $30 - $37
