Adult Ed. IET Teacher
TITLE: Teacher
Position: The position is responsible for duties related to teaching an integrated education and training (IET) class, and for planning, implementing, and monitoring the instructional program for adult learners needing to improve basic reading, writing, math skills, work readiness and career pathways, and preparing to enter post-secondary education/training or the workforce. The position is also responsible for assessment, goalsetting, post-testing, and data collection for the program as reported to partners and the local and regional office.
Minimum Qualifications: Must possess a Bachelor’s degree, experience as an instructor/educator. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, have excellent organizational, planning, and human relations skills; must have good knowledge of content, curriculum, assessments, instructional practices, and materials, appropriate for instructing adult learners, improving basic skills and contextualized instruction. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with adult learners, other professional staff, and community partners/employers.
Reports to: Local Coordinator – Amherst
Essential Duties:
- Plans, implements, and monitors contextualized instructional activities for adult learners using the AHLEI Guest Service Gold curriculum: college and career readiness, success skills, and to improve basic skills
- Help establish and support student and program goals and responsibilities ? Provide a positive adult education learning environment and promote lifelong learning
- Plan, design, and deliver learner-centered instruction that is contextualized for the hospitality industry using the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adults
- Facilitate and assess student learning and monitor progress
- Maintains appropriate records and data for all programs within the domain of the VA DOE grants.
- Attend regional professional development trainings
- Completes publisher certifications (TABE & CASAS) as required
- Performs related work as assigned
Salary: Grant funded, part-time position (evenings), 3-6 hours a week, at $28/hour
