The Amherst College Department of Spanish invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of visiting assistant professor. This is a one-year appointment beginning on July 1, 2026.
Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. in Spanish or a related discipline by the start of the appointment, and native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English. Instruction in the Spanish department is primarily in Spanish. The field of specialization is open, with a preference for Latinx studies and/or Latin American studies. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in teaching in Spanish. Teaching duties include two courses per semester, including language instruction and upper-division literature and culture courses, and possibly supervising a senior thesis.

The expected salary range for this job opportunity is $70,000 to $100,000. The salary offered will vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to relevant education, training, and experience, tenure status, and other nondiscriminatory business considerations.
