The Retail Planner will oversee financial and inventory planning for an omnichannel, mass retail partner within the intimates category. This role requires a deep understanding of sales productivity, inventory health, and in-stock performance. The Retail Planner will analyze results at both the macro (category) and micro (style-color-door) level to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and optimize the flow of goods. This position partners closely with Sales, Demand Planning, Merchandising, and Production to ensure all forecasts, inventory plans, and buying strategies are aligned to account goals and company objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Create and propose seasonal and annual financial plans – including sales, margin, and inventory targets – in collaboration with the Sales team
- Build, maintain, and update style-color level ladder plans, incorporating sales trends, productivity insights, and receipt flow strategies
- Monitor inventory positions to ensure optimal in-stock levels, healthy weeks of supply, and alignment with production and replenishment timelines
- Partner with Demand Planning to reconcile forecasts with actual sales trends and adjust forward-looking projections accordingly
- Analyze weekly sales and productivity to identify performance drivers, risks, and opportunities by category, style, and color
- Lead inventory flow and in-stock discussions with the account team, communicating stockouts, heal dates, and overall WOS status
- Maintain key planning tools, including financial plans, inventory trackers, pre-season files, and performance dashboards
- Prepare and present business reviews with clear financial metrics, sales trends, and actionable insights
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align production schedules, replenishment buys, and order timing to support retail calendars
- Conduct market and competitive analyses to inform assortment and productivity strategies
- Stay current on category dynamics by visiting stores and leveraging shopper-behavior insights
- Provide ad hoc analyses to support business decisions and drive growth
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years of retail planning, financial planning, merchandise planning, or related experience within the wholesale or retail industry
- Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
- Experience working with mass retailers strongly preferred
- Familiarity with planning systems such as SAP, IBP, Retail Link, or Scintilla a plus
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Proactive, analytical, and highly collaborative mindset
Annual salary range starting at $80,000
