Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Scottsboro, AL, for a Material Purchaser. The Material Purchaser will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating with material suppliers to ensure the timely procurement of necessary steel products. Key tasks include managing purchase orders, maintaining inventory control, ensuring supplier compliance with quality standards, and optimizing cost-efficiency. Collaborating with internal departments to forecast material needs and resolving issues in the supply chain will also be part of the day-to-day responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with inventory management, procurement, and supply chain processes
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and cost-analysis skills
- Proficiency in using ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Effective communication and relationship management abilities
- Capability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of steel industry standards, grades, and specifications is a plus
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred
- Prior experience in purchasing or steel supply/metal fabrication industries is required
