The Position
AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Apprentice (Guardian1)-Junior. The hourly range of this position is $22.00/hour. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background
The Guardian Software Development team is responsible for periodic releases of the components that make up the Guardian Software Suite. They will provide safety critical engineering services for the Atlantic Test Range Guardian systems. The team provides engineering services to include Software Engineering, Independent Software and System Testing, System Fabrication, Information Technology (IT), Financial Management Analyst support, etc. to the Guardian program. Software Engineers support will include but not limited to design, development, documentation and testing of all components that make up the Guardian System software suite. The team will provide location site surveys, site installations and customer support services along with system component acquisition, publication development and configuration management.
A Typical Day As An Apprentice (Guardian1)-Junior May Include
Candidates must demonstrate a customer-focused mindset, professionalism, and discretion, while working collaboratively with management and teams to meet objectives. Candidates should be hard-working individuals with strong attention to detail and the ability to foster a positive, team-oriented culture.
Physical Environment And Working Conditions
The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site.

A Typical Day As An Apprentice (Guardian1)-Junior May Include
- Supports the Guardian team
- Develops software for a safety critical UAV Detect and Avoid system
- Documents software to DO-278 standards
- Supports software development, software integration, customer training and demonstrations
- Demonstrates a knowledge of standard programming algorithms, design patterns and object-oriented software design
- Evaluates and reviews C language code
- HS Diploma or equivalent with granted waiver
- Academic experience with scripting, database and programming
- U.S. Citizenship (required due to AMEWAS contractual requirements)
- Academic experience with Python or Java programming language
