Ames Community School District is seeking Temporary Seasonal Grounds Workers to work approximately 8 hours daily, Monday-Friday from May-August. This is a part-time, as-needed, temporary position without benefits.

Work Schedule:
May-August (flexible start/end date)
7:00am-3:30pm
Monday-Friday

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Mows and weed-eats lawns at all District properties.
• Trims trees/bushes at District properties.
• Mulches playgrounds and cleans flower beds.
• Assists with athletic field maintenance.
• Moves boxes and furniture.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
• Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. throughout the shift.
• Frequent bending, carrying and moving heavy objects, such as bags of seed, weed eater, clay, buckets of paint, and furniture.
• Requires physical endurance to complete most duties.

Preferred Qualifcations:

• Experience in grounds' maintenance.
• Ability to safely operate a push mower, riding mower, weed eater, and other hand tools.

The successful candidate will exhibit:

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Consistent and punctual work attendance.

Compensation: $16.25/hour
