Ames CSD is seeking a Mail Courier.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00 am-3:30 pm, 255-day work agreement (year-round)

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• Receives mail, packages, and shipments; logs each item and prepares them for delivery.
• Delivers interdepartmental mail, U.S. Mail, packages, paper, and other received items in a neat, timely, and organized manner.
• Picks up hazardous materials, light bulbs, and other miscellaneous items from buildings.
• Picks up and delivers parts and supplies from local vendors for district use.
• Coordinates and assists with moving staff and curriculum materials between sites.
• Orders inventory as needed.
• Performs custodial duties as required.
• Plows snow when necessary.
• Operates a forklift.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  
  

The Successful Candidate Will Exhibit

• Ability to lift 50 lbs. throughout the shift.
• Ability to work in cold and hot temperatures.
• Frequent lifting, bending, carrying, and moving heavy objects such as books, furniture, and boxes of curriculum materials.
• Ability to read, interpret, understand, and implement communications, both written and verbal.
• Proficient computer skills using email, spreadsheets, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and the Internet are preferred.
• Willingness to work with others and to work as a team member.
• Well-organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks and have effective problem-solving skills.
• Willingness and availability to work overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  
  

Compensation: $17.30 per hour
