Veterinary Assistant

Hayward Animal Clinic is currently looking to hire a Full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience with rooming patients, drawing blood, radiology, assisting in surgeries, and proper animal handling & restraint, and being a positive, inclusive and motivating team member.

• Salary: $24 - 28 per hour, and depends on experience, education, licensure, and certifications.
• Schedule: Full-time, four to five 8-hour shifts, Monday – Friday. Saturday coverage is required. Closed on Sunday and all federal holidays. Flexible/Open Availability Required.

Who You Are:

• 3 years clinical experience as a veterinary assistant required
• Certified Veterinary Assistant, or current veterinary technician student, preferred
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with animals and their owners
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
• Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
• Perform basic exam procedures
• Skilled in venipuncture (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
• Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
• Comfortable with monitoring general anesthesia and surgical assisting
• Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); IDEXX in-house laboratory
• Excellent client communication/education
• Adaptable to working well with current doctors and team members
