What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laser/Turret Programmer position at Ameristar Manufacturing?

The Programmer will create flat layouts and tool paths from customer supplied prints and computer-generated drawings for production use. Direct responsibilities include: working closely with production control, estimating, customers, and production leads to efficiently produce customer parts. Responsibilities:
- Assist in the estimating process as well as quoting and purchasing materials.
- Interpret customer prints and drawings to convert to AutoCad 2D and 3D Inventor.
- Pursue customer approval of prints produced prior to releasing an order to production
- Create correct tool paths for customer parts.
- Resolve process, product, equipment, and production issues regarding production prints.
- Conduct work activity at the direction of the Production Planner.
- Discuss job priorities and production problems with production leads on occasion.
Qualifications/Skills:
- AAS in Mechanical Drafting or equivalent in AutoCad 2D/3D Inventor, drafting in a metal manufacturing/assembly plant.
- Knowledge of various production operations in press brake equipment, punch press equipment, strippit, CNC, and advanced understanding of blueprint dimensions and mechanical drawings.
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
- Extensive knowledge of operations and production management.
- Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set production goals.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with customers, management, coworkers, and outside engineers.
- Assist customer with understanding design options.
- Knowledge of fixtures, tools, and gauges to measure tolerances.
- Mechanical skills in operating equipment to produce parts to print.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
