AmeriStaff is seeking a Personal Lines & Health & Life Customer Service Representative to join a well-established, community-focused insurance agency with a strong reputation in Southwest Virginia.
Position Summary
The Personal Lines & Life & Health Customer Service Representative (CSR) plays a key role in meeting the overall insurance needs of our clients across both Personal Lines and Life & Health products. This includes individual medical plans, senior products, and supplemental coverage. The ideal candidate delivers prompt, accurate, and courteous service while supporting the retention and growth of the agency’s book of business. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple priorities and provide exceptional client support in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Personal Lines Responsibilities
- Provide professional, responsive service to an assigned book of personal lines accounts
- Manage policy renewals, including binding coverage, reviewing policies for accuracy, invoicing, preparing proposals, and delivering policies
- Respond promptly to client service requests, including resolving complex coverage and underwriting issues
- Effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
Life & Health Responsibilities
- Service Life & Health policies, including beneficiary changes, billing inquiries, and policy updates
- Support and process individual medical insurance applications
- Provide service assistance for senior products (e.g., Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplements, Part D plans) and supplemental products (dental, vision, ancillary coverages)
- Support clients during Open Enrollment and Annual Enrollment Periods, managing high-volume service requests, plan changes, and eligibility questions
- Provide general coverage education within licensing and compliance guidelines
- Coordinate with insurance carriers and vendors to help resolve service and claims-related issues
Additional Responsibilities
- Work independently to manage day-to-day responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Balance workload across multiple lines of business, including seasonal fluctuations
- Assist management with special projects and other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and Skills
- High School Diploma required; four-year degree preferred
- 2–3 years of experience in Personal Lines and Life & Health insurance
- Active Property & Casualty and Life & Health licenses required
- Experience with Medicare, senior products, and individual health insurance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer skills
- Salesforce experience preferred, but not required
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities
- Professional work ethic and strong customer service orientation
