Position Overview - Financial Planning Specialist
This role is ideal for a proactive, client-first professional who takes ownership of their work, anticipates needs, and goes above and beyond to serve clients and support advisors. Job Duties
- Take notes during advisor/client meetings and follow through with action items
- Execute trades in client accounts as confirmed by the servicing advisor, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Proactively monitor and analyze client portfolios and tracked metrics, identifying risks, opportunities, and next steps before issues arise
- Assist in tracking business performance metrics and preparing insightful reports for advisor review
- Stay current on financial planning tools, investment platforms, and industry best practices with advisor guidance
- Support financial planning activities, including data analysis, plan updates, and preparation of high-quality deliverables using financial planning software
- Maintain working knowledge of annuity, life, disability, and long-term care (LTC) application processes, as well as estate settlement procedures
- Take initiative in working with the Ameriprise home office to resolve account service issues efficiently and thoroughly
- Process transaction and service requests as directed, ensuring follow-through to completion.
- Handle ad-hoc client service needs and address escalated services issues from client service managers
- Confidently communicate by phone with clients, prospects, and the home office
- Monitor and respond to client emails and calls, prioritizing urgent matters and anticipating client needs
- Demonstrate ownership by identifying process improvements and contributing ideas to enhance client service and team efficiency
- Perform additional allowable duties as assigned by financial advisors and other team members
Qualifications & Ideal Candidate Traits
- Minimum of four years of experience in the personal financial services industry
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Active licenses required:
- Series 7
- Series 66 (or Series 63 and 65)
- Texas Life Insurance license
- Preferred, but not required:
- CFP® certification (or candidate)
- Self-motivated, proactive, and willing to go the extra mile for clients and teammates
- Strong problem solver who takes initiative and sees tasks through to resolution
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused
- Team player with a strong service mindset and excellent communication skills
- Ability to adhere to firm policies, regulatory requirements, and Ameriprise compliance standards
- Comfortable supporting and reinforcing compliance best practices within the firm
- Positive attitude and genuine desire to learn, grow, and serve others
