What are the responsibilities and job description for the VHA - Urban Hope Housing Systems Specialist VISTA position at AmeriCorps?
Virginia Housing Alliance’s (VHA) AmeriCorps VISTA project is a statewide intermediary project with 18 Host Sites, all that either work to expand affordable housing opportunities and/or end homelessness throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. VHA’s VISTA project aims to develop viable communities by promoting integrated approaches that provide decent housing, suitable living environments, and expansive economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons. This listing is to fill the Host Site opening at Urban Hope in Richmond, VA. Urban Hope creates and preserves affordable housing to prevent displacement and stabilize low-income families in Richmond’s East End. In neighborhoods shaped by historic redlining, disinvestment, and rising housing costs, many families are one unexpected crisis away from eviction or homelessness. As Urban Hope expands its housing portfolio, the administrative and data systems needed to manage properties, track compliance, and support residents have not kept pace with growth. The Housing Systems Specialist VISTA will lead a capacity-building project that strengthens Urban Hope’s housing operations. The VISTA will design standardized procedures, improve digital filing systems, and create dashboards that consolidate housing data currently tracked across multiple spreadsheets. The member will also research best practices used by peer housing organizations and evaluate tools that could support more effective housing management in the future. By building these systems, the VISTA will help Urban Hope operate more efficiently, improve decision-making, and support the responsible growth of affordable housing in Richmond.
