What are the responsibilities and job description for the MCNCE VISTA- Campus Food Pantry Network Developer position at AmeriCorps?
Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE) is a CEO-led coalition of 18 colleges and universities throughout Montana that support civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across the state. Every year we place cohorts of full-time, part-time, and summer AmeriCorps members with schools, colleges, nonprofits, and government agencies in Montana that support college students and the communities they reside in. The AmeriCorps projects we facilitate increase educational equity, break down barriers between higher education and community organizations, and address the root causes of poverty in communities across the state. MCNCE is located in Missoula, MT on the University of Montana Campus. The Montana Food Pantry Community of Practice is a statewide collaboration led by Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement that brings together higher education campus leaders engaged in addressing college hunger. The goal of this project is to increase the efficacy and impact of the Community of Practice anti-hunger work on campuses statewide. This will be accomplished by expanding campus food pantry resources, increasing awareness of resources available, expanding local stakeholders and accurately assessing current food insecurity needs across individual Montana campuses. Through these capacity building efforts, students will receive both immediate financial relief with increased access to nutritious food which will directly boost their academic performance and boost their retention in higher education. In the long term, these programs break the cycle of poverty by improving outcomes for students, increasing the state's skilled workforce, and thereby reducing future reliance on public services.
