What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Systems Coordinator-Massachusetts General Hospital position at AmeriCorps?
The VISTAs will provide capacity development to a rotating set of projects that touch nearly every aspect of healthcare delivery, from pain management to hepatitis C treatment. Community outreach initiatives include building the capacity of public health outreach clinics, writing and managing grants, and connecting students interested in healthcare careers to mentors and opportunity pathways. AmeriCorps VISTA members participate in all aspects of the MGH programs, with a focus on projects that support the Rosebud Sioux Tribe and the area community. The VISTA impact on capacity development is substantial, with over 10 full-time positions sustaining projects started through the work of past VISTA teams. To maximize their impact on developing capacity, AmeriCorps VISTA members split time between the health system (at the Indian Health Service) and tribal programs. It is a fantastic position for anyone interested in a future in medical school, health care administration, or public health. Volunteers work closely with the academic physicians who help run the partnership in the community.

Member Duties : With mentorship and support from the Massachusetts General Hospital Rural Medicine Program, empower and improve the quality of life for the Sicangu Lakota Oyate / Rosebud Sioux Tribe members and the rest of the community of the Rosebud Indian Reservation by: providing capacity development for the Sicangu Oyate health programs; supporting clinical systems strengthening for the Indian Health Service hospital and clinic; and planning and implementing health workforce development programs.
