AmeriCorps Food Pantry Engagement Coordinator
Our project goals for the member are to assist in enhancing Food Pantry operations and provide additional support services such as leading our outreach efforts, managing our volunteers, coordinating food drives and donation events, educational programming including cooking demonstrations, and topics such as nutrition, diet, and eating on a budget. Support from the member will also include education, or referrals helping individuals to access food, providing nutritional services, or life skills training to alleviate the food insecurity experienced by the individual or family. This intervention strategy will include an engagement with the individual in person, by phone, or through a web- interface. The AmeriCorps Volunteer will allow us to expand the hours we can support our students as well as making sure no student is unaware of the resources available at our food pantry. Our objective is to make sure all students at the college are familiar with the pantry's resources and supporting our campus population in reducing food insecurity
Member Duties : Our AmeriCorps Volunteer will serve as part of a team that includes staff and community volunteers to distribute food, develop and maintain programming for visitors, donors, and volunteers. Volunteers will coordinate recruitment, identify new community partners, coordinate food and item drives, coordinate educational opportunities and develop strategies for outreach and engagement. We are looking for someone who has experience with food handling, ability to work well with people from all types of backgrounds, strong communication skills, professional and organized, and has a strong initiative and self-starter.
