What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2026 Summer Associate-Loyola Community Summer Youth Program position at AmeriCorps?
Loyola University Maryland is a liberal arts university in North Baltimore. Its new Center for Neighborhood Resilience (CNR, formerly the York Road Initiative) supports place-based justice efforts along the York Road commercial corridor and its adjacent neighborhoods. The Center is a part of Loyola’s Division of Mission and Identity and reflects Loyola’s mission and values, and its commitment to social, economic, and environmental justice. The Center seeks a Community Summer Youth Program VISTA member to work with CNR staff to support the summer youth program. The VISTA will support a curriculum designed to teach youth about community engagement and community organizing, and to walk them towards planning a community-based event for their peers at the end of the summer. The Center also seeks a Food and Wellness Summer Youth Program VISTA member to work with CNR staff to support these summer food and fitness/wellness programs. The VISTA will also support the Center’s summer meals program.

Member Duties : The Community-University Center Summer Youth Program VISTA will confirm and finalize program logistics, attend youth program sessions and field outings, and deliver 1 or 2 workshops. In addition, the Community-University Center is serving as a summer meals site, and the VISTA will be a part of a rotation to support daily meal distribution that will include the youth program participants. The Food and Wellness Summer Youth Program VISTA will secure engaging guest readers/presenters for a weekly children's activities at the farmers market, support the CNR team with identifying age-appropriate and culturally appropriate literature for weekly story times, assist with planning children's activities each week, and engage children in educational, physical and social activities in a safe and nurturing environment. In addition, they will assist CNR staff in recruiting youth to participate in 2 evening Summer Swim events for Junior Hounds Swimmers and managing logistics.
