The goal of the Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin VISTA Program is to build a better Wisconsin by assisting local organizations to increase the capacity and sustainability of programs focused on alleviating poverty. With passion, commitment, and hard work, our AmeriCorps VISTA members help organizations in bring individuals & communities out of poverty. Habitat for Humanity of Dane County, offers a hand up, rather than a hand out. Through their volunteer network, generous donors and sales from their two Habitat ReStores, they’re helping families achieve strength, stability and self-reliance to build a better life through shelter. Habitat for Humanity builds with people in need regardless of race or religion and welcomes all volunteers and supporters. Habitat for Humanity envisions a world where everyone has a decent place to live and brings people together to build homes, community, and hope. The affiliate serves the community of Dane County and is located in the state’s capital city of Madison, a vibrant university town situated between (and around) two lakes: Mendota and Monona.

Member Duties : As the Fundraising VISTA, you’ll build capacity by improving and advancing fundraising strategies, focusing on grants and individual donors, to enable Habitat for Humanity build and repair more homes in Dane County. PROSPECT RESEARCH & GRANT WRITING: Research potential grant opportunities, corporate sponsorships, family foundations, and individual donors. Opportunity to write grant applications, if desired. INDIVIDUAL GIVING: Focusing on annual fund strategies, work with the development team to implement fundraising best practices. DATABASE PROJECT: Learn Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge and prepare data for migrating to a new database. Benefits include $500/month housing stipend, 30-hour work week, hybrid schedule (after a month), Association of Fundraising Professionals Membership, and professional development opportunities. **Interviews are done on a rolling basis. Please submit an application as soon as possible to ensure consideration. Selection may be made before deadline date posted.**
Program Benefits : $500/month for housing, hybrid schedule , Childcare assistance if eligible , Health Coverage* , Living Allowance , Training , Relocation Allowance , Education award upon successful completion of service , Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend .
