What are the responsibilities and job description for the Share Food Program Development VISTA position at AmeriCorps and Careers?
Share Food Program leads the fight against food insecurity in the Philadelphia area by serving an expansive, quality partner network of community-based organizations and school districts engaged in food distribution, education, and food justice advocacy. A VISTA with this organization will support and expand Share Food’s food access initiatives through community outreach, supporting local partnerships, education, volunteer organization, project management, and food donor recruiting. Through these efforts, a VISTA will build Share Food’s long-term capacity to eliminate food insecurity in the communities that they serve.
Member Duties : 1. Design outreach materials to connect community members with local food resources. 2. Support on-site distributions and build relationships with community members and partners. 3. Engage with local coalitions and partner organizations to coordinate hunger relief initiatives. 4. Support the coordination and administration of a food distribution program serving older adults.
